Exploring the future of non-forest bio-based materials in FSC™-certified products |
We’re reaching out to you on behalf of FSC’s Circularity Hub to better understand the use of non-forest bio-based materials in FSC certified products. We hope to take just 15 minutes of your time.
By participating in this survey, you’re not just sharing your knowledge—you’re helping shape FSC's approach to these materials for the future.
By non-forest bio-based materials, we mean materials derived from biological sources other than forests, such as crops like cotton, hemp, sugarcane, grasses, and agricultural bi-products/waste. These materials are organic, originating from living or recently living organisms, but do not include forest-based resources like wood or fossilized materials.
Why Your Participation Matters
Whether your company currently uses non-forest bio-based materials or not, your input is crucial in analyzing the role of these materials in companies’ efforts to reduce pressure on ecosystems and lower carbon emissions. With this insight, we can assess the extent of non-forest bio-based materials in FSC-certified products (e.g., the types of fibers used, their origins, the certifications applied to them, and future scenarios). Together, we can explore the potential benefits of these bio-based fibers for FSC and companies.
Privacy and Impact
Your responses will remain anonymous, with data used in aggregate to inform FSC’s Board of Directors and leadership. This is a chance to contribute to a meaningful discussion about the future of sustainable materials in FSC certified supply chains.
